I am a full-time research assistant in Phonetics at the University of Edinburgh, on an ERC funded project titled 'PlanArt: Planning the Articulation of Spoken Utterances' with PI Professor Alice Turk. The work I am doing involves analysing electromagnetic articulometry (EMA) data to test theories of speech production. As this contract comes to an end, I am looking for new opportunities to start in September.
My research experience spans several (sub)fields, including speech technology, medical humanities, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics and phonetics. I hence have strong skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis methods and in writing research articles. I have also held several roles on various student committees, including as National Chair of the Undergraduate Linguistics Association of Britain (ULAB), where I became adept at managing projects of various types and organising events such as conferences, careers fairs and workshops.
I am open to roles in a few different areas:
- Linguistics or social science research, especially with a focus on healthcare;
- Entry-level roles where I can develop expertise in ethics and policy, particularly relating to (healthcare) data and AI;
- Roles in speech science and/or technology;
- Project management or administration, or events organising.
