I am a full-time research assistant in Phonetics at the University of Edinburgh, on an ERC funded project titled 'PlanArt: Planning the Articulation of Spoken Utterances' with PI Professor Alice Turk. The work I am doing involves analysing electromagnetic articulometry (EMA) data to test theories of speech production.
My interest in the voice is fairly holistic. As well as articulatory phonetics, I have also been involved in projects in acoustic phonetics, sociolinguistics, speech perception, and cough analysis. In my MPhil in speech and language technology I gained a particular interest in the ethical and regulatory issues surrounding voice technologies, especially those for singing, and voice conversion.
I have also worked on language evolution, and recently published on word order harmony.
